Exchanging ideas on the future of palm biodiesel
Rieckermann, together with BDI-BioEnergy International GmbH (BDI), successfully participated in the recent 6th Palm Biodiesel Conference 2026. Hosted by the Indonesian Biofuel Producers Association (APROBI) under the theme “The Role of Palm Biodiesel for Global Energy Security”, the conference brought together industry leaders, policymakers, technology providers, and key stakeholders from across countries and the palm biodiesel value chain to discuss market developments, policy direction, sustainability, and future opportunities for renewable fuels.
A timely platform for biodiesel industry dialogue
As biodiesel blending mandates continue to grow and the global energy transition gains momentum, stakeholders are focused on improving production economics, increasing feedstock availability, finding innovative and efficient technological solutions, and building regional cooperation to secure the biofuels value chain. Against this backdrop, the conference provided an important platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, with presentations and discussions covering palm biodiesel’s role in strengthening energy security and supporting more sustainable biofuel systems.
Showcasing practical solutions for more competitive biodiesel production
At exhibition booth 12, Rieckermann and BDI welcomed visitors to discuss practical ways to address production challenges and unlock new opportunities in biofuels, specifically biodiesel, bioethanol, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) processing. Conversations centered on how producers can reduce feedstock costs, process challenging and lower-quality feedstocks, optimize existing production assets, and improve overall plant performance.
Visitors from Indonesia Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, India, and Nigeria showed their interest in BDI’s Biodiesel experience and expertise, especially their RetroFit solutions and cutting-edge RepCAT® technology.
Rethinking biodiesel production through retrofit and feedstock flexibility
BDI also shared insights through their presentation, “Rethinking biodiesel production: Low-cost feedstocks, repeatable catalyst (RepCAT®) & RetroFit solutions for high-quality products.” The session highlighted practical approaches to improving biodiesel production economics and product quality, with emphasis on alternative feedstocks, repeatable catalyst technology, and retrofit concepts for upgrading and optimizing existing biodiesel plants.
A key focus was RepCAT®, BDI’s repeatable catalyst technology, which supports feedstock flexibility and helps producers achieve consistently high-quality biodiesel. By enabling the processing of low-cost and alternative feedstocks, RepCAT® offers a practical approach for producers seeking to reduce reliance on a single feedstock source while improving competitiveness in a dynamic market environment.
With many producers looking to make better use of existing assets, RetroFit solutions offer a pathway to improve efficiency, expand feedstock options, and strengthen long-term operational resilience without necessarily requiring a full greenfield investment. This approach reflects Rieckermann’s objective to help customers produce biodiesel more competitively, efficiently, and consistently using the assets and opportunities already available to them.

Held on September 17–18, 2026 at Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort, Indonesia, the 6th Palm Biodiesel Conference 2026 offered a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders on the future of biofuels, particularly palm biodiesel.
