MECHANICAL-BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT SEMINAR 2019

Mechanical Biological Treatment Seminar 2019

In Malaysia, Rieckermann hosted its first Environmental seminar on the topic of Mechanical – Biological Treatment (MBT), which is an alternative method for the management of municipal solid waste (MSW). The benefits of MBT include the maximum recovery of clean solid recovered fuel with high calorific value and the minimization of waste disposed at the landfill. This is a highly relevant topic for the local market as Malaysia is currently focused on the adoption of modern technologies to implement a more holistic and effective solid waste management system nationwide.

During the seminar, Rieckermann introduced their entire portfolio of process technologies for the Environmental sector, insights into their engineering services for MBT plants and the importance of localized technical support, which includes training of the plant operators and the availability of maintenance concepts. A guest speaker, Dr. Matthias Kuehle-Weidemeier from ICP Ingenieurgesellschaft Prof. Czurda und Partner GmbH, was invited to present on MBT processes and their applications, critical factors in the selection of appropriate waste treatment technologies, as well as the adoption of MBT in a local context.

The seminar was attended by over 60 participants, inclusive of decision makers, consultants, engineers, plant operators, service providers, researchers and government officers from all over Malaysia. The participants expressed a high level of interest in the technology presented during the seminar‘s Q&A session.

The one-day seminar took place at Sofitel Damansara Kuala Lumpur on November 27, 2019 and was organized in cooperation with the Waste Management Association of Malaysia (WMAM) and was supported by Rieckermann’s MBT technology partner, REDWAVE. Rieckermann hopes to grow their Environmental business and establish themselves as a major player in the waste management industry in Malaysia.
