Rieckermann and Macchi drive packaging advancements across Asia
Since 2019, Rieckermann has partnered with Macchi S.p.A., a leading manufacturer of blown film extrusion lines. Together, they support customers across Southeast Asia and China with tailored, high-performance solutions that meet evolving market demands.
From design to delivery: a milestone in project excellence in Thailand
Most recently, on October 29, Rieckermann played an instrumental role in a successful Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) alongside Macchi. The test was conducted for a three-layer blown film line, which had been delivered to a new customer in Thailand. The line, based on Macchi’s renowned platform design, integrated three extruders and a die head on a single, compact structure to produce a wide range of packaging films, from lamination application to rice packaging.
During this test, the customer also verified the outstanding performance of the line’s Recotrim recycling system, which ensured efficient and productive recovery of film trims and other production film scrap. Within just one day, the line achieved all set goals, culminating in the successful signing of the FAT.
A joint endeavor, this milestone was achieved through Macchi’s engineering excellence and Rieckermann’s comprehensive technical and commercial support. It was also a reflection of the strength of their collaboration and shared commitment to customer success.
Scaling innovation with world-class 9-layer film technology in China
Similarly, this partnership also played a pivotal role in another recent success: the installation and commissioning of a 9-layer blown film line for Guangdong Airbaker New Material Co. in China. Completed in early 2025, the project marked a significant upgrade from Airbaker’s previous 7-layer system, also supplied by Macchi and supported by Rieckermann. With a 3,000 mm layflat and 700 kg/h capacity, the newly expanded line has already demonstrated its value in producing high-barrier packaging films.
