Live demonstration showcases revolutionary graphene concrete additive
Rieckermann Philippines is thrilled to have hosted a live demonstration in Manila, unveiling an innovative graphene concrete additive. Conducted by their local Construction and Infrastructure industry team, the event brought together a diverse group of industry professionals, all eager to witness firsthand how this cutting-edge technology performs in real-world applications.
Senior Center of Competence (Precast Technology), Mirko Feldkamp, delivered a comprehensive technical introduction, followed by the live concrete mixing demonstration using a laboratory planetary mixer. “The graphene concrete additive represents a high-performance, eco-friendly alternative to traditional concrete,” Mirko remarked. “With this technology, our customers can embark on a smarter, greener path for construction.”
The audience observed the immediate impact of the graphene additive, noting a visibly more homogenous mix even in the initial batch – an early indicator of its superior performance. Furthermore, the additive reduced cement content by up to 15%, which is a major development given that cement production is a key contributor to global carbon emissions. Additionally, the optimized mix formula reduces additive usage by up to 25%, further improving cost efficiency and sustainability without compromising quality.
“The integration of graphene into the concrete mix significantly enhances strength and durability,” explains Bastian Thorwarth, Portfolio Development Manager at Rieckermann. “Most notably, it enables the concrete to achieve nearly double the required compressive strength within just 24 hours. This accelerated curing process allows for faster construction timelines, reduced material usage, and lower environmental impact.”
After a networking lunch, attendees reconvened for the highlight of the event – compressive strength testing. The results exceeded expectations, confirming the concrete’s exceptional performance despite its lower cement and additive content. The audience was visibly impressed, recognizing the potential of this innovation to transform concrete technology.
The graphene live demonstration event was held on April 23, 2025, at the Rieckermann Philippines office in Metro Manila, Philippines. Rieckermann is proud to be one of the players at the forefront of sustainable innovations in the construction industry and looks forward to further exploring this new path to green concrete with partners and clients alike.
