DEMONSTRATING SUPPORT FOR NET ZERO BY 2050

Rieckermann holds seminar and networking luncheon on decarbonizing the fertilizer industry

With Malaysia as one of the leading fertilizer producers in the region, addressing carbon emissions in the industry has become a top priority. Recognizing this crucial challenge, Rieckermann took the initiative to organize a seminar and networking luncheon on the topic of decarbonizing the fertilizer industry. The event was held in collaboration with their highly regarded Oil & Gas partner, Casale SA, a renowned provider of integrated solutions for fertilizer and chemical production.

With a focus on addressing the growing concerns surrounding carbon emissions from the fertilizer industry, the event gathered various experts and industry players to share their know-how and best practices in support of Malaysia’s efforts toward achieving as close to zero carbon emissions as possible by 2050. Attending industry professionals included representatives from the Malaysian global energy giant, Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) and several local fertilizer companies.

Rieckermann’s Head of Country for Malaysia & Singapore, Tim Groth, delivered the welcoming speech, emphasizing the company’s unwavering commitment to supporting Malaysia’s decarbonization goals. President of the Malaysian Petrochemicals Association (MPA) Akbar Md Thayoob echoed his statement. In particular, he highlighted the vital role played by the fertilizer industry as a major petrochemical segment in spearheading decarbonization efforts and sustainable practices.

The highlight of the seminar was a comprehensive presentation by Casale’s expert team, which consisted of Fabio Laurenzi (Area Sales Manager APAC), Pietro Moreo (Technology Manager), and Francesco Baratto (Head of Syngas Department). Their presentations centered around innovative approaches to decarbonizing fertilizers and methanol, showcasing Casale’s cutting-edge smart blue and green ammonia technology. They also introduced their solutions for cleaner production processes of fertilizer derivatives such as melamine, nitric acid, and ammonium nitrate NPK, ensuring a more sustainable future for the industry.

To foster meaningful engagement and knowledge sharing, both Rieckermann and Casale SA actively encouraged attendees to participate in Q&A sessions and on-site discussions. This interactive exchange allowed them to gain valuable insights from the presenters, as well as providing a unique opportunity to network with industry peers. By facilitating these collaborative discussions, the seminar served as a platform for fostering a collective commitment to achieving both the industry’s and the country’s aspiration towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.

The seminar and network luncheon on decarbonizing the fertilizer industry took place on June 13th, 2023 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The event received invaluable support from the Fertilizer Industrial Association Malaysia (FIAM) and the Malaysian Petrochemicals Association (MPA).
