With the warm weather in Hamburg this year, Rieckermann sponsored five of its employees to take part in the MOPO Team – Staffelauf corporate relay race. The run saw a participation of 10,000 runners at the central Stadtpark in Hamburg. It was organized by the Hamburger Morgenpost (MOPO), which is one of the largest newspapers in Hamburg.
Representing Rieckermann in the Male team category on August 16, 2018 were Daniel Deegener, Oliver Bley, Matthias Jonas, Marcel Druve, and Fionn Johnston. Each participant ran 5km in the relay race, and the team successfully completed the race in 2 hours, 4 minutes and 2 seconds. They finished the race in the top 70 out of the 225 teams that participated in the Men’s category.
One of Rieckermann’s female employees, Berrin Otto, also participated in the run through a team representing the Hamburger Laufladen e.V., one of Hamburg’s professional running associations. The team won first place in the Women’s category, finishing the race in 1 hour, 40 minutes and 45 seconds.
According to the runners from Rieckermann, the event was an enjoyable experience for them, despite the recent summer heat which was, to some, almost unbearable.
The race took place on August 15 and 16, 2018 and registered a total of 2,000 teams over the two-day period. The event was not only a reason for runners to compete in a fun run and enjoy a leisurely picnic in the green surroundings, it was also an opportunity for corporations to network with each other in a less formal setting.
