Optimizing efficiency for the PET bottle life cycle

In collaboration with their technology partners, Rieckermann recently conducted a webinar to address current challenges faced in PET bottle production, specifically the rising concerns about plastic waste pollution in the environment. At the present time Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (r-PET) is an increasingly popular reusable material. Derived from Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) and commonly known as polyester, the r-PET material can contain either pre- or post-consumer PET bottles.

Against this background, the webinar focused on the available sustainable solutions in PET preform production, bottle waste washing, and pelletizing processes geared towards a circular economy. Gathering industry experts and representatives from leading companies in an information-packed virtual conference, the webinar featured a number of topics, including:

  • Efficient production of PET preforms through competitive mould technology
  • PET bottle waste washing and recycling technology for bottle-to-bottle application, textiles, and others
  • US FDA and EFSA approved high quality r-PET super-clean recycling processes.

With these solutions, the industry can produce r-PET materials that are not only cost and energy efficient but are also safer for the environment. In addition, clean-up companies are able to reduce their carbon footprint and achieve sustainable and optimized operations. For instance, the approximate energy used to produce r-PET fabrics is about 30-35% less than that of virgin polyester. So, by meeting the demand for recycled polyester our oceans and landfills will be saved from plastic materials, particularly water bottles.

Taking part on the panel were several of Rieckermann’s highly regarded technology partners, including representatives of Chengdu Lianyu Precise Machinery Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Boretech Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd., and M-A-S Maschinen-und Anlagenbau Schulz GmbH. The webinar was held on November 11, 2022, using Microsoft Teams, and met with attentive participation for the topics and industry panels featured.
